Retrenchment is one of the most disruptive moments in a professional career, both for the people leaving the organisation and for the colleagues who remain. The Retrenchment Recovery & Career Transition Program is a structured group workshop that helps delegates process the emotional impact of retrenchment, rebuild confidence, and equip themselves with practical tools to secure their next role or redefine their career path.
Delivered by The Voice Clinic in partnership with Changing Lanes Consultancy, the program combines professional communication coaching with career transition expertise. It is designed for groups of 10 to 30 delegates and can be tailored for retrenched staff, remaining teams, or mixed cohorts navigating organisational change.
This workshop is designed for organisations going through structural change and the individuals affected by it. It supports delegates at every stage of the retrenchment journey, from the immediate emotional impact to long-term career planning.
The program blends emotional resilience, practical job-search skills and professional communication into a single structured workshop. Delegates leave with the mindset, the toolkit and the confidence to take ownership of their next chapter.
Understand the psychological and emotional response to retrenchment, recognise common patterns of grief, anger and uncertainty, and learn techniques to process them constructively rather than carry them into the next opportunity.
Update your CV for the current market, sharpen your personal brand, and learn how to position your experience so that it speaks directly to the roles you are targeting.
Build confidence through structured interview practice, role-play common scenarios, and master the art of answering difficult questions about your retrenchment with poise and professionalism.
Learn how to approach applications strategically, where to look, what to avoid, and how to stand out in a competitive market without falling into common application traps.
Develop the emotional intelligence to manage your own reactions, read interviewers and networking contacts more accurately, and present yourself as a composed, self-aware professional.
Use LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to expand your professional network, build visibility, and uncover opportunities that never reach the open market.
Explore career changes and growth opportunities, identify transferable skills, and consider whether the next chapter is a similar role, a pivot, or a complete reinvention.
Orchestrate your next chapter through clear goal setting, structured planning, and accountability tools that turn intention into action.
Strengthen the professional communication skills, self-esteem and self-sell confidence needed to introduce yourself, articulate your value, and own the room in any interview or networking conversation.
